If you follow Zombie Splatter on
Facebook you will get simple survival tips periodically. They are also listed on this page but the
Facebook friends get them first.
Facebook Friends Survival Tips (FFST):
FFST #1, 5/11/2011- Facebook Friends Survival Tip: Be sure to add plenty of socks to your disaster supply kit. Put some extras in your bug out bag too. Socks are one of those items you won't miss until you are out of them. I can
see them being very valuable in a barter situation too.
FFST #2, 5/14/2011- Get an Emergency Weather Radio and make sure you know how to use it. Listen to your radio during an emergency for instructions, officials may call for evacuation in specific areas. If you are smart you will have already evacuated before everyone else.
FFST #3, 5/22/2011- We are conditioned to drink whenever we feel like it. We drink when we are not even thirsty because we feel the illusion of thirst. This false thirst can quickly deplete you water rations. To combat this feeling you can wash of a small peanut sized pebble and hold it in your mouth. I don't know why is works but it makes you feel less thirsty.
FFST #4, 7/15/2011- Cattails (the plant) hold plenty of water and much of them is edible. They are rich in nutrients. If you peel the shoot you will find a crunchy substance that tastes somewhere in between cucumber and zucchini.
FFST #5, 7/17/2011- You can make matches waterproof by dipping the heads of them in wax.
FFST #6, 7/13/2011- If you ever have to build a camp fire inside of a cave build it in the back. The smoke will rise to the ceiling and follow it out while leaving you a nice warm air pocket between the mouth and the fire. Building your fire at the mouth of the cave will just fill the cave up with smoke
FFST #7, 8/20/2011- In case of a blackout, keep plastic containers of water in your refrigerator and freezer to help keep food cold for several hours.
FFST #8, 1/29/2012- MYTH- It is better to build shelter from dead wood. Just imagine what would happen if a few sparks from your fire ignited your shelter. How many supplies would you lose?
